Secretary of State for Social Security
The Secretariat of State for Social Security, under the general authority of the Minister, is responsible for management and supervision of the Social Security Managing Bodies and Common Services; the promotion and management of the Social Security System´s legal framework; the management and coordination of the financial resources and expenditure of the Social Security and the planning and supervision of the management carried out by the collaborating bodies of the Social Security.
Reporting to the Secretariat of State are the following MANAGEMENT BODIES AND DEPARTMENTS:
- General Directorate of Social Security Organisation
- Social Security Public Accounts Department
- Social Security Administration Legal Services Department
- National Social Security Institute
- Social Marine Institute
- Central Treasury for Social Security
- Social Security IT Department
In addition, the following organisations report to other secretariats of state or ministries:
- Institute for Social Services and the Elderly
- National Public Employment Service
- National Healthcare Management Institute
Collaboration in Social Security management, which the Managing Bodies are responsible for, is carried out by the Mutual Societies for Work-Related Injuries and Occupational Diseases of the Social Security and the companies, under various formulas as can be seen in the following diagram:
