Dan moved several steps forward to place himself on top of an enormous "D" painted on the floor, right in the middle of the doors. It was the symbol of the High Council of Danland, which Dan had seen on some doors in the Library. He started to hear the noise of bolts and machinery, at the same time the huge doors started to open, opening up to a room with an enormous stairway that led to a higher floor.
