Who may apply?

This special agreement allows for inclusion in the Special Scheme for Self-Employed or Autonomous Workers of top-level athletes, over the age of 18, who, due to their sport activity or any other professional activity, are not included in any of the Social Security System schemes.

Application filing and deadline

The application (form TA-0040) must be submitted to the Provincial Directorate or Administrative Office of the General Treasury of the Social Security within 90 calendar days following the publication of the list in which they appear as top-level athletes in the Official State Gazette.

Protective Action

The purpose of the Special Agreement is to provide coverage for permanent disability, death and survival due to common eventualities, retirement, social services and health care.

Requirements

Over 18 years of age.

Recognised status as top-level athlete.

Effective dates

First day of the month in which the status as top-level athlete was recognised.

Causes for Termination

  • When the interested party acquires the status of pensioner due to retirement or permanent disability.
  • When the interested party is included within the field of application of any Social Security Scheme.
  • Failure to make payments for three consecutive or five alternative months.
  • Death of the interested party.
  • Decision by the interested party duly notified to the Social Security Treasury General.

Other

This special agreement is regulated by article 27 of Order TAS/2865/2003, of 13 October and by Royal Decree 1467/1997 of 19 September on athletes. All unregulated issues follow the general regulations.
