Awards for the Quality of Teaching Materials. December 2009

The Social Marine Institute has been recognised at the seventh edition of the Awards for Quality of Teaching Materials, organised by the National Institute of Public Administration, winning the runner-up prize in the multimedia category, for the teaching materials accompanying the “Basic and Specific Healthcare Training” course.

Silver Anchor Award. December 2009

The Medical Radio Centre (CRM) of the Social Marine Institute has been awarded the “Silver Anchor 2009”, a prize presented by Radio Nacional de España and the Maritime Rescue and Safety Society. This award recognises the assistance provided by the CRM to seafarers on board vessels and, in particular, its contribution to maritime rescue and the protection of human life.

“Best ‘.es’ Websites of the Last 20 Years” Award. November 2009

On 18 November, the Social Security website was awarded one of the prizes for “The best ‘.es’ websites of the last 20 years” in the competition organised by red.es to mark the 20th anniversary of these domains.

With this award, the State Secretariat for Telecommunications and the Information Society of the Ministry of Industry recognises the work of the Social Security system as a driving force behind the Information Society in our country, highlighting factors such as accessibility, innovation, representativeness, support for the development of the Internet, the number of visits and the creativity of its website.

ANAVE Journalism Award. February 2009

The Spanish Shipowners’ Association (ANAVE) has awarded, by unanimous decision of the jury, the inaugural Prize for Journalism 2008 to Ana Munguía for her work in the magazine Mar, published by the Social Marine Institute, in recognition of a series of articles published between April and October of that year.

This award recognises the work of this journalist and, by extension, of the magazine ‘Mar’ in disseminating information on maritime transport, presenting an image that reflects the true importance of this sector to the national economy.

The Carmen García Bloise Prize. February 2009

The medical ship Esperanza del Mar has been awarded the 2008 Carmen García Bloise Prize. This award is presented to individuals or organisations that have distinguished themselves through their work in assisting or supporting refugees or migrants displaced by war, adverse economic conditions or other extreme circumstances.

It is within this context of solidarity that the humanitarian work of the aforementioned vessel takes place; since the start of its operations, it has carried out not only the specific tasks for which it was built – namely providing medical assistance to the crews of vessels fishing in the Canary Islands–Saharan fishing grounds, Mauritanian and Senegalese fishing grounds, and to provide logistical support to those vessels, but has also carried out humanitarian tasks to assist shipwrecked people and migrants seeking to reach the Spanish coast whilst fleeing poverty in their countries of origin.

Best Practices Award for Web Accessibility. January 2008

On 17 January, Discapnet’s Infoaccessibility Observatory presented a series of plaques in recognition of organisations’ best practices for web accessibility. For the public sector, the Social Security website has been recognised.

In the report “Accessibility of the General State Administration’s electronic services”, produced by Discapnet, the Social Security website receives a positive rating, with the service for obtaining employment history being highlighted amongst those analysed.  It is considered to offer the highest levels of accessibility and user satisfaction. Furthermore, this report highlights the levels of compliance with accessibility guidelines relating to the correct use of frames, forms, images, headings and style sheets on the Social Security website.

2008 Awards for Quality and Innovation in Public Management

The Quality and Innovation in Public Management Awards comprise three different categories:

  • Award for Excellence, the aim of which is to recognise the body or organisation that has distinguished itself particularly in improving the quality of its services. It is designed to assess the overall performance of public organisations in accordance with benchmark models.
  • Award for Innovation, designed to recognise and honour public organisations that have excelled in the areas of innovation in knowledge management and technology.
  • Award for Best Practices, which aims to recognise specific projects or parts of an organisation, whilst also drawing on the experience gained across different public administrations.

During 2008, the following awards were presented to various Provincial Directorates:

  • The runner-up prize has been awarded to the Provincial Office of the TGSS in Cádiz for its ”Social Security School” initiative, which was submitted for the Citizenship Award for Best Practices in Public Services.
  • The Provincial Office of the INSS in Barcelona has been awarded second prize for its nomination for the Award for Excellence in Public Management.

Award for Excellence in Public Management. December 2006

The State Agency for the Evaluation of Public Policies and the Quality of Services has awarded the runner-up prize in the Award for Excellence in Public Management to the TGSS Provincial Office in Valladolid.

ComputerWorld 25th Anniversary Award. April 2006

ComputerWorld magazine gave the ComputerWorld 25th Anniversary Award, to the Social Security IT department, for having demonstrated during these years a strong commitment to the consolidation of a Spanish Information Technology and Communications sector with its own image and specific weight.

Furthermore, this award was intended to recognise the efforts made by the GISS for more than 25 years, centred on the idea of establishing a body to bring together and manage all of the Social Security’s technological potential, in order to provide a better service to the public.

 Gold Plaque of the Order of Merit for Fisheries. January 2006

Gold Plaque of the Order of Merit of Fisheries, given to the Social Marine Institute by the Cabinet of Ministers , on proposal of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fishing and Food.

The objective of the award is to recognize the effort of the ISM for its service activities in the sea fishing sector.

2006 Awards for Quality and Innovation in Public Management

During 2006, the following awards were presented to various Provincial Directorates of the TGSS :

The 2006 Award for Good Internal Management Practices was presented to the TGSS  Provincial Directorate in Valencia for its “Human Resources Service Commitments” initiative.

2006 Citizenship Award for Best Practices in Public Services, presented to the TGSS Provincial Office in Asturias, for the initiative “Excellent face-to-face service. Commitment to quality and service to citizens”.

In addition, the 2006 Honourable Mention for Best Practices in Public Services was awarded to the Network of Offices and Units for Foreign Nationals and the Network of Social Security Administration Offices, for the “Process for the regularisation of foreign workers and their registration with Social Security” initiative.

Medal for Merit in Work. November 2005

Gold Medal for Merit in Work, awarded to the Medical Radio Centre of the ISM.

The prize was awarded on proposal of the Ministry of Employment and Social Affairs, after deliberation of the Cabinet during its meeting held on 18 November 2005. The objective of the prize was the recognition to the professional work performed uninterruptedly, 24 hours a day, every day of the year, since it came into operation 26 years ago, with almost 100,000 calls received for medical assistance from any part of the world.

TAW Award for Web Accessibility. October 2005

Granted by the CTIC Foundation (Technology Centre for Information and Communication) with the collaboration of the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Commerce and the Government of the Principality of Asturias.

The aim of this award is to recognise, encourage and promote the efforts of individuals and organisations, both public and private, which apply current accessibility guidelines to their web content, in order to ensure access for all users, regardless of whether they have a physical or mental disability.

Bronze Diploma at the Ibero-American Quality Awards. October 2005

The Ibero-American Foundation for Quality Management awarded the Bronze Diploma for Quality to the Provincial Office of the TGSS in Zaragoza , for theReport on the Organisation's Management, based on all the criteria of the Ibero-American Excellence in Management model.

The goal of these prizes is to promote self-assessment, communication and training as basic tools to manage continuous improvement.

ASTIC Award. May 2005

Award received in recognition to the work performed by an organisation or public entity. Awarded by ASTIC (Professional association of the Higher Information Technology and Systems Department of the State Administration).

 

SIC Information Security Award. April 2005

Image of the SIC magazine award presented to the GISS in 2005II.  Information Security Awards, presented to the Social Security IT Department in the Public Bodies category.

The award was received for the systematic and complete approach to the analysis and management process of information security and ITC security risks. Awarded by SIC magazine (IT and Communications Security).

The purpose of this award is to recognise the professional trajectory of prominent persons within the scope of IT and telecommunications, as well as to underline the contribution of private and public organisations in this matter.

AENOR 2005 Certifications

Pursuant to the provisions of the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers, 1978, as amended in 1995 (STCW-78/95), and the Orders |FOM 2296/2002 of 4 September and 1415/2003 of 23 May, the Social Marine Institute has, in the field of maritime training, on one hand, developed a new competence-based training system, replacing the previous knowledge-based system, and, on the other hand, established a quality system based on ISOstandards, which last May obtained the following AENOR certifications:

  • The National Maritime Training Centre in Bamio: certified by IQNet under certificate no. ER-0626/2006.
  • The National Maritime Training Centre in Isla Cristina: certified by IQNet under number ER-0627/2006.
  • The ISM (its remaining activities in the field of maritime training: IQNet certificate no. ER-0625/2006).

IV. The Public Administration Quality Awards. November 2004

A photograph of the INSS Provincial Office in ValenciaIV.  The Quality and Best Practice Awards for the General State Administration, at which the Directorate-General of the Social Security General Treasury received one of the Best Practice Awards for the project “Telematic Management System for Executive Collaboration between Public and Private Entities and the Social Security General Treasury”.

Similarly, the TGSS  Provincial Offices in the Balearic Islands and Asturias also received the General State Administration’s Best Practice Awards for their projects “Virtual Information Centre” and “Provincial User Support Unit”, respectively.

The National Social Security Institute received a Best Practice Award for the “A1P1 Project” run by the INSS Provincial Office in Valencia.

Similarly, the Services Inspection Department of the INSS General Secretariat also received the same award for the initiative “A project for quality improvement: from control inspection to integrated inspection”.

For its part, the ISM received a Best Practice Award for the “Maritime Health Programme” project.

These awards were presented in 2004 by the Ministry of Public Administration  in recognition of actions taken by bodies or organisations whose initiatives lead to improved organisational performance and a higher quality of services.

Tecnimap Award for e-government projects. October 2004

Award received for the project Institutional File Exchange (IFI). Awarded at the VIII.  Conference on Information Technology for the Modernisation of Public Administrations (TECNIMAP).

 

III. The Public Administration Quality Awards. November 2003

III.  The Quality and Best Practice Awards, organised by the Ministry of Public Administration.

At this edition, held in 2003, the  TGSS  Provincial Office in Valencia received the Best Practices Award and the Joint Quality Award for  its initiative “One-Stop Shop for Registration and Membership in the Sagunto Administrative Office”.

These awards try to recognise the bodies that are distinguished for good quality in their work, and therefore in greater performance in the organisation and greater quality in its services.

Furthermore, as part of the process of the III.  Edition of the Quality and Best Practice Awards for the General State Administration, the Ministry of Public Administration agreed with the Quality Management Club that all those nominations which had achieved a certain standard in their assessment would be eligible for the European Scheme for Excellence in Management, subject to validation by the certification bodies “Bureau Veritas Quality International”, “Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance” and “SGS-ICS Ibérica”. Therefore, the following bodies received the Seal of European Excellence: Regional Treasury General Department of the Social Security General Treasury in Valencia (Level of Excellence) and the Regional Treasury General Department of the Social Security in Zaragoza (Consolidation Level). Similarly,  the Provincial Directorate of the Social Security General Treasury in Guipúzcoa was awarded the Seal of Excellence in the European Quality category.

Best Practice Award in E-Government. February 2003

Award received by the Virtual Office project for customer support through the internet. Organised by Expansión magazine, T-Systems and the Recoletos Editorial Group.

The objective of this award is to recognise new technology advances in the public administration and promote electronic administration.

II. The Public Administration Quality Awards. November 2002

A picture of the TGSS Provincial Directorate building in CórdobaII.  Edition of the Quality and Best Practice Awards in Public Administration, at which the National Social Security Institute received two Best Practice awards, for the projects carried out by the INSS Provincial Directorate in Córdoba: “Citizen Service and Information at an INSS Provincial Directorate. A model of quality at the service of thepublic" and "Confidentiality and Audit System for Information Systems and Technologies".

The Social Security General Treasury also received two Best Practice Awards for its “Citizen Management and Telephone Support Service”, which enables citizens to obtain any kind of information and carry out a wide range of procedures with the TGSS by telephone, without having to visit its offices, and for the project “ Identification, Monitoring and Resolution of the Causes of Citizen Dissatisfaction with the TGSS In-Person Service”, through which the comments, opinions and observations made by citizens when visiting TGSS premises were analysed.

Furthermore, the Provincial Directorate of the TGSS in Córdoba received an Honourable Mention in the Quality Awards for its work in managing the organisation, in accordance with the criteria of the EFQM Excellence Model as adapted for the Public Administration.

These awards were presented in 2002 by the Ministry of Public Administration in recognition of initiatives that stand out for their commitment to improving the quality of services. The purpose of these prizes is the recognition to the Body that has especially been distinguished in the quality increase of its services through the improvement of its processes and results.

Shipbuilding Innovation Award. September 2002

The Innovation in Shipbuilding Award was presented to ISM by LLOYD’S LIST SMM, in recognition of the construction of the most noteworthy special-purpose vessels.

I. Edition of the Public Administration Quality Awards. November 2001

The National Social Security Institute received one of the Best Practice Awards for the project run by the INSS Provincial Office in Guipúzcoa, entitled “Suggestion Box for Staff Complaints, Ideas and Suggestions”. 

The award was presented in 2001 by the Ministry of Public Administration in recognition of those organisations whose initiatives are aimed at improving the quality of services.

Twenty-three Provincial Directorates of the Social Security General Treasury (TGSS) have been awarded the “MAP Seal” in one of its three categories – Gold, Silver and Bronze – which certifies the levels of excellence achieved by organisations within the General State Administration and is awarded by the Ministry of Public Administration (MAP).

  • The Provincial Directorates of the TGSS that have been awarded the “MAP Seals” are:
    • Gold Category (>500 points): the Valencia Provincial Directorate.
    • Silver Category (401–500 points): the Albacete, Alicante, Tarragona and Valladolid Provincial Directorates.
    • Bronze Category (200–400 points): the Asturias, Barcelona, Cádiz, Ciudad Real, Córdoba, Cuenca, Girona, Granada, Guipúzcoa, Huesca, the Balearic Islands, La Rioja, Lugo, Navarre, Pontevedra, Seville, Toledo and Vizcaya Provincial Directorates.

  • The Provincial Directorates of the INSS that have been awarded the “MAP Seals” are:
    • Silver Category (401–500 points): Huesca Provincial Directorate.
    • Bronze category (200–400 points): Ciudad Real, Albacete and Córdoba Provincial Directorates.

  • The Provincial Directorates of the ISM that have been awarded the “MAP Seals” are:
    • Bronze category (200–400 points): A Coruña Provincial Directorate.

The State Agency for the Evaluation of Public Policies and Quality of Services has recognised the following levels of quality with "AEVAL Seals":
