Civil Service Pensions
Staff covered by the State Civil Service Pension Scheme:
- Permanent and trainee civil servants of the General State Administration, the Administration of Justice, the Spanish Parliament, and other constitutional or state bodies where applicable, as well as civil servants transferred to the Autonomous Communities.
- Career military personnel, members of the reserve ranks, professional enlisted personnel and sailors, as well as cadets, students and trainee officers at military schools and academies.
- Former presidents, vice-presidents and ministers of the national government, and holders of other offices.
Upon retirement or upon death, or upon being declared deceased, the person concerned, entitle the individual or their dependants to benefits of a purely financial nature, paid at regular intervals, in the form of retirement or early retirement pensions, widow’s pensions, orphans’ pensions and parents’ pensions.
Pensions shall be either ordinary or extraordinary, depending on whether the event giving rise to the pension occurs under ordinary circumstances or as a result of injury, death or disappearance occurring in the course of duty or as a consequence thereof.
Extraordinary pensions arising from acts of terrorism shall be granted to staff covered by the State Civil Service Pension Scheme or to pensioners under that scheme who are victims of such an act.
Exceptional pensions are civil service pensions recognised by law in favour of a specific person or persons.
