What is the financial benefit for the birth or adoption of a child in the case of large families, single parent families and in cases of mothers or fathers with disabilities?
It is a non-contributory, single-payment family benefit which is granted for the birth or adoption of a child after 16 November 2007 in a large family, single parent family or family when the mother or father has 65% disability or greater.
What formalities are necessary?
Applicants must submit:
- The appropriate application Form.
- The required documentation to prove their identity and the determining circumstances to receive the benefit.
Where is it processed?
If you have a digital certificate or permanent cl@ve, the application and required documentation can be submitted through the Social Security Electronic Office. If you do not have an electronic identification system, you can carry out the procedure through the Social Security Assistance and Information Centre platform, or by ordinary mail, or at a Social Security Assistance and Information Centre (CAISS).
The National Social Security Institute (INSS) is responsible for granting the right to the financial benefit.
What is the term for applying for the benefit?
It may be requested as of the day following the birth or adoption of the child.
The right of recognising this benefit expires in five years to be counted from the day following that on which the birth of the child or adoption takes place.
