Regarding these benefits, remember that:
-
To get the contributory benefits included in the Agreement, periods of insurance completed in Spain and Russia can be added together.
-
Contributory economic benefits can be collected regardless of whether the interested party is resident or currently located in Spain or Russia.
-
Each country will pay its own benefits directly to the beneficiary.
-
Those who meet the requirements of the legislations of both countries for entitlement to a contributory pension may receive it from either country.
Temporary disability, Maternity or Childcare
For entitlement to these benefits, the periods of insurance or work in both countries are added together, if necessary.
Disability, Old Age, and Survival
The competent institution in each country will determine the interested party's entitlement to a pension by adding up the periods of insurance or work accredited in the other country, and will pay the part of the pension that corresponds to it, according to the proportion of the periods of insurance or work in the country granting it and the sum of the periods in Spain and the Russian Federation.
However, at the express request of the interested party, he or she will be granted the right to choose between the benefit that results from adding together the periods of insurance or work, or the benefit that he or she could be entitled to in each country by adding up only the periods of insurance or work in the one country.
In the case of a Spanish Social Security retirement pension that considers a total of insurance periods accredited in Russia, this total shall also be used to determine the age of entitlement to the pension.
Note:
A specific resolution exists for individuals of Spanish origin who were minors when, as a result of the Spanish Civil War, they moved to the ex-USSR, and for the teachers or carers who went with them, that considers them to have one year's contributions to Spanish Social Security.
Work-related Injury and Occupational Disease
The benefit will be determined by the country whose legislation the worker is subject to on the date when the accident occurred or the disease was contracted.
