Internships
As of 1 January 2024, students who undertake internships, whether paid or unpaid, are included in the social security system.
This is an extension of rights that benefits younger workers, who will thus be able to start making contributions allowing them to generate rights in the future, since they will be recognised as having contributed to future pension purposes, while at the same time they will be better protected during the performance of their internships.
The main objective is to improve and extend the rights of students by including them in the social security system. This allows them to start making contributions and receive coverage by the protective action of the Social Security while they are on their internship. This helps students, especially the youngest students, by strengthening their connection with the social security system and encouraging their training.
