Coming into force

Community Regulations (EEC ) 1408/71 and 574/72 concerning Social Security, came into force in Spain on 01/01/1986. However, these Regulations have been replaced by EC Regulations 883/2004 and 987/2009, which came into force on 01/05/2010.
Thus, Regulations 1408/71 and 574/72 are currently only applicable to nationals of third countries (legal residents in an EU Member State, except Denmark) and only in Social Security relations between one or more European Union Member States (except Denmark) with the United Kingdom.
