What is the Secretary of State for Social Security and Pensions?

It is a superior body of the Department under the direction of its Head.

What are its powers?

• The management and oversight of the Management Entities and Common Services of the Social Security, attached to the Department, without prejudice to the competences attributed to other ministries and to other units of the department.
• Promoting and directing the legal organisation of the Social Security system.
• The management and coordination of the Social Security's financial resources and spending.
• The planning and supervision of the management exercised by the Social Security collaborating entities.
• Any other competence attributed to it by law or regulation.
