Death and Survivors

The death and survivors benefits are set up to compensate the financial needs of certain people, caused by the death of others.

These benefits are included under the protective action of the General Scheme and the Special Schemes of the Social Security System, with the particular conditions indicated for each case in the relevant Special Scheme. The SOVI (Obligatory Ageing and Invalidity Insurance) widow's/widower's pension still exists in addition to these schemes.
