Purpose	Train participants to master the following skills: Survival in the sea in the event of abandoning ship. Minimising fire risks to the minimum and maintaining preparedness for emergency response at any time in the event of fire. Fighting and putting out fires. Taking immediate measures if there is an accident or other medical emergency. Fulfil emergency procedures. Taking precautions to avoid polluting the marine environment. Complying with workplace safety practices. Contributing to effective communication on board. Contributing to good human relations on board. Understanding and taking the necessary measures to control fatigue.
Requirements	Other requirements. When submitting the application: Declaration of responsibility (issued by the father/mother/legal guardian, where applicable) that the applicant can swim. and at least one of the following: Statement of compliance indicating the applicant does not suffer from any physical or mental illness preventing them from undertaking the training requested, or Valid medical certificate certifying that the applicant is not suffering from any physical or mental illness preventing them from undertaking the training requested, or Valid medical Certificate indicating that the applicant is fit for work on marine vessels. At least one of the following when preselected for the course, if applicable, and for its entire duration: Valid medical Certificate certifying that the applicant is not suffering from any physical or mental illness preventing them from undertaking the training requested, or Valid medical Certificate indicating that the applicant is fit for work on marine vessels.

Specialisation Certificate / Ship Security Officer

Purpose	Train participants to master the following skills: Maintaining and supervising the implementation of a ship's protection plan. Assessing the risks, threats and vulnerability of a ship from a protection perspective. Regularly inspecting the vessel to ensure that the measures taken are applied and maintained. Ensuring that protection equipment and systems are working, tested and calibrated correctly. Fostering awareness of protection and surveillance.
Requirements	Professional Qualification/Certificate: Hold any of the following qualifications or certifications: Merchant Navy Captain. First Officer in the Merchant Navy. Second Officer in the Merchant Navy. Merchant Navy Radio Electronics first Officer Merchant Navy Radio Electronics second Officer Merchant Navy Engine Room Chief Merchant Navy Engine Room first Officer. Merchant Navy Engine Room second Officer. Merchant Navy Directorate General accreditation to serve as an Officer in merchant vessels. Maritime Authority certificate in which the Ship Security Officer certificate is requested. This course may also be taken by students who: Are studying or have completed academic studies equivalent to any of the qualifications or certificates, or Are taking or have completed the relevant academic or professional work experiences, even if they do not have the official qualification or certificate of the Directorate-General for the Merchant Navy. These circumstances must be accredited by a certificate issued by the training centre or company, as appropriate.

Search and Rescue - IAMSAR (International Aeronautical and Maritime Search and Rescue Manual)

Second Officer in the Merchant Navy. Fishing Captain. Deep-sea Skipper. Coastal shipping Skipper. This course may also be taken by students who: Are studying or have completed academic studies equivalent to any of the qualifications or certificates, or Are taking or have completed the relevant academic or professional work experiences, even if they do not have the official qualification or certificate of the Directorate-General for the Merchant Navy. These circumstances must be accredited by a certificate issued by the training centre or company, as appropriate. Additional training. Applicants must hold the following certifications: GMDSS General Operator or Restricted Operator Certificate Automatic Radar Plotting Aids ARPA Certificate Submit documents accrediting training in Electronic chart display and information systems (ECDIS) or submit documents accrediting experience in handling electronic charts. Other requirements. Junior Specialist in Risk Prevention in the Workplace
