Application procedure for the Special Worker Agreement to reduce working hours to take care of a minor, disabled person or family member

General Information


Purpose:

To cover the contributions for Retirement, permanent Disability, Death, Survival, Social Services, and Health Care arising from common contingencies.

Beneficiaries:

Workers employed by another person or persons assimilated thereto who reduce their working day, with a proportional salary reduction, in order to care for a child under six years of age, a person with a physical, psychic, or sensory disability, or a family member, up to the second degree of consanguinity or affinity, who, for reasons of age, injury, or disease, cannot care for him/herself, or in the case of the birth of premature children or children who have to remain hospitalised after birth.

Documentation:
  • Original and copy of the: National Identity Document, Foreign Citizen Card or Passport, as applicable. (In the case of changes to the information in these documents, submit the original of the document that provides proof of these changes).
  • Company certificate indicating the starting date of the working day reduction.
  • Certificate from the company or companies in which the worker was employed during the twelve months prior to the removal and/or reduction in working hours, with the contribution basis for common contingencies for those twelve months.
Where to process it:

At the Provincial or Administrative Offices of the Social Security Treasury General corresponding to the domicile of the applicant. If you have a digital certificate you can access the e-Office and submit the application form and required documentation online through the Special Agreement Registration process at the Social Security e-Office.

Deadlines:

There are two deadlines:

  • 90 days from the start of the reduction in working hours.
  • At any time during the period of reduction of the working hours.
Effective:

It will take effect at the option of the interested party:

  • From the start of the reduction in working hours.
  • From the date of application.

Requirements:

It will not be necessary to accredit a contribution period prior to the Agreement application.

Other important information:
  • The monthly contribution basis is the difference between the bases corresponding to the working day reduction and any of the bases that the interested party may choose.
