Affiliation. Registration and deregistration

Is it possible to contribute retroactively for internships included in Additional Provision 52 LGSS completed prior to its entry into force?

They may sign a special agreement, on a one-off basis, pursuant to the terms and conditions determined by the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, which will enable them to calculate the contribution for the periods of training or non-labour and academic internships carried out before that date of entry into force, up to a maximum of five years.

Will the internship be included in the contribution basis report?

In the case of paid internships, there are no exceptions to the general rule.

The contribution base reports shall include the contribution bases corresponding to the number of days of work experience actually carried out and reported or, where applicable, the number of days of work experience planned during temporary incapacity due to occupational contingencies or receipt of other benefits.

How are unpaid internship days to be taken into account in the work life report?

For the purposes of benefits, each day of unpaid training shall be considered as 1.61 days of contributions, subject to the limit of the number of calendar days in each month.

Will the internship be included in the work life report?

In the case of paid internships, there is no exception to the general rule and they are included in the list.

In the case of unpaid internships, the periods of registration shall be included in the work life report as soon as the corresponding registrations are reported. However, the number of days of registration shall only be included, for each quarter, once the number of days of work experience actually completed or, where applicable, the number of days of work experience planned during temporary disability due to occupational contingencies or receipt of other benefits has been reported.

What is the purpose of being registered with the Social Security System during the internship?

Having registered with the Social Security scheme, the student will have all the coverage offered by the applicable Social Security system, excluding unemployment protection, coverage by the Wage Guarantee Fund and by Vocational Training.

If the internship is unpaid, protection for temporary disability benefit due to common contingencies is also excluded, but temporary disability benefit due to occupational contingencies is not excluded.

How can students check their Social Security registration?

The student can consult the registration in the personal area of the Importass Portal, logging in via SMS, PIN code, permanent code and digital certificate/DNIe.

They can also download this information via this Portal, from the Work life and reports section.

How can the student check their Social Security Number or find out if whether they already have one assigned to him or her?

You can check this by accessing your personal area in the Importass Portal (selecting the option “Enter your personal area”) identifying yourself by SMS, if you have communicated your telephone number to the Social Security General Treasury or, otherwise, by PIN, Permanent Key or electronic certificate/DNIe.

It can also be consulted from the "Accreditation of the Social Security Number” service, located in the Work life and reports section of the Importass Portal and generate a supporting document.

If the affected person does not ask for the student's Social Security Number (NUSS), can they do this themselves?

Yes, the student can apply for their NUSS in two ways:

  1. Via the Request Social Security Number service on the Importass Portal, identifying themselves by means of the PIN Code, Permanent Cl@ve or Electronic Certificate/DNIe.
  2. If they do not have any of these means of identification, they can apply for it using the Send an application service at this link on the Importass portal. This will require:
    1. An identity document (DNI, NIE or passport).
    2. An email address.
    3. A device with a camera to take a photograph as, in order to correctly identify the applicant, it is necessary for the applicant to take a "selfie" showing their face and the front of their DNI or NIE.
    4. Form TA.1 Affiliation/Social Security Number Application.

During this month I have been on a part-time contract for 20 days. Additionally, I have done 15 training days, will they appear in my employment record?

Yes. However, the number of days to be taken into account for the purposes of the internship contribution, together with the days contributed by virtue of the employment relationship, may not exceed 30. Therefore, in this case, only 10 training days would be counted.

What will happen if while doing the internship I find work, carry out a self-employed activity, start receiving an unemployment benefit or subsidy or contribute to Social Security for any other reason?

During the period in which students contribute to Social Security for a reason other than carrying out training internships, they are excluded from contributions as a student. The TGSS, once it is aware of the situation, will proceed to determine the training days carried out in each month for which contributions must be made, in such a manner that there is no simultaneous contribution to Social Security between the training days mentioned and the registration with obligation to contribute for another reason.

The effective registration periods as a student carrying out training internships and the number of internship days contributed will be included, as special annexes, in the students' work life report.

Will the TGSS accept my registration with the Social Security if I am a civil servant or a retirement or permanent disability pensioner?

If any of these conditions are proven to the TGSS at the time of the application for registration, the TGSS will not accept the registration. However, if the TGSS has no proof of this condition, it will accept the registration and, if any of these conditions are subsequently accredited, the TGSS will then proceed to review the registration and cancel it, or, where appropriate, to deregister the student with effect from the day before the date on which any of these conditions were acquired.
