School Insurance

The general procedure is shown below.

What is School Insurance?

It is insurance policy that covers students under the age of 28, from the 3rd year of ESO up to postgraduate studies, against any school-related injury, disease or family hardship, providing medical, pharmaceutical or financial support, as appropriate.

What is the paperwork involved?

The following must be presented:

  • The appropriate medical form.
  • The documentation needed to prove identity and the circumstances determining the right.

 Where is it processed?

The application and documentation indicated should be submitted at any of the Social Security Information and Support Centres.

The right is granted by the National Social Security Institute (INSS).

When are the health benefits applied for?

Except in the case of school-related injury, health benefits must be applied for prior to receiving the assistance.

What is the deadline for applying for economic benefits?

Benefits for school-related injury: one year.

Burial expenses, family misfortune and other economic benefits: five years.
