What is the economic benefit for the birth or adoption of a child in the case of large families, single parent families and in cases of mothers with disabilities?

It is a non-contributory, single-payment family benefit which is granted for the birth or adoption of a child after 16 November 2007 in a large family, single parent family or family when the mother has 65% disability or greater.

What formalities are necessary?

Applicants must submit:

  • The appropriate application Form.
  • The required documentation to prove their identity and the determining circumstances to receive the benefit.

Where is it processed?

The application and required documentation must be submitted at any Social Security support and information centre (CAISS).

The National Social Security Institute (INSS) is responsible for granting the right to the economic benefit.

What is the term for applying for the  benefit?

It may be requested as of the day following the birth or adoption of the child.

The right to be granted this benefit will expire five years from the day following the birth or adoption of the child.
