PREPUCE INFLAMMATION (PARAPHIMOSIS)
The prepuce, the skin that covers the tip of the penis (glans), is, in some men, long and narrow at the end. After some manoeuvres or during sexual intercourse, it may retract and, due to its narrowness, trap the base of the glans, without being able to pull it forward once more. The glans swells, congests and becomes painful.
Rapid action is required, putting the patient to bed and alleviating the congestion with local cold until the prepuce can be pulled over the glans once more. For that purpose, push the glans backwards with the thumbs, pulling the prepuce forwards at the same time with the other fingers (see picture).
