NODES (LYMPHATIC INFLAMMATION)
The lymphatic system is made up of a series of organs and cells, which are involved in body defence, especially against infection.
Lymphatic nodes are part of this system, acting as filters and producing white blood cells (lymphocytes) which fight against germs.
Adenopathy is an inflammation of a lymphatic node. It appears after an infection of a nearby body part. It usually appears on the first or second day. The node increases its size, suddenly becoming painful and swollen, indicating fast spreading infection.
If there is an inflamed node, look for an infection source in the nearby areas. For this purpose the following chart may be useful:
| Lymph node location | Area where to look for infection |
|---|---|
| In front of the ear | Scalp, ear, face, forehead |
| Neck | Shoulder, neck, mouth, teeth, throat, face, scalp |
| Below the clavicle | Chest, shoulder |
| Armpit | Mano, brazo, hombro |
| Groin | Foot, leg, thigh, genitalia, anus, buttock |
As a general rule, the treatment of these conditions requires treatment
