TESTICLE PAIN

The main testicle pain causes are:

Testicle inflammation is the most frequent cause. The patient has usually suffered a Anterior urinary or venereal (sexually transmitted) disease, feels unwell and there is fever. This differs from testicle pain due to torsion, where the patient is usually young, there is no fever and or Anterior exertion, and the pain starts suddenly. Testicular trauma is frequently a consequence of falls (horse riding) over a rope or a solid object; according to the intensity of the trauma, a bruise may appear in the scrotum, which may spread to the penis, the abdominal wall and the thighs. Check that the patient is able to urinate.

In case of testicular pain, immediately ask for MEDICAL ADVICE VIA RADIO . Bed rest, and placing the testicles with a pillow between the legs, considerably reduces the pain, as well as local cold (refer to Chapter 2.5, FRACTURES AND DISLOCATIONS). Besides this, administer pain-killers, such as acetyl salicylic acid or paracetamol (DRAWER 3, first aid kits A, B and C), 500 mg. every six hours.
