VAGINAL HAEMORRHAGE

  1. During pregnancy

    Haemorrhaging during the first six months may induce a miscarriage. The patient should remain in bed until the haemorrhaging ceases. If the haemorrhaging does not cease and is accompanied by pain, follow the instructions given in the section covering MISCARRIAGE.

    Haemorrhaging during the seventh to ninth months of the pregnancy could signify the beginning of childbirth. In whatever case, the patient should remain in bed until she can be disembarked urgently. Ask for MEDICAL ADVICE VIA RADIO .

    Pregnant women should not be given any medication, except for Paracetamol (DRAWER 3, medical kits A, B and C), if it has not been medically advised.

  2. Other vaginal haemorrhages

    These occur outside of pregnancy and the menstrual period. The patient should remain in bed. Obstruction of the vagina should not be attempted. Ask for MEDICAL ADVICE VIA RADIO .
