Care of minors affected by cancer or another serious illness

You can see a simplified version in the Procedures and Formalities  section.

A financial benefit for parents, adoptive parents or foster parents who reduce their working hours to care for a dependent minor affected by cancer or another serious illness.

The purpose of the benefit is to compensate for the loss of income suffered by the interested parties as a result of having to reduce their working hours, and the resulting reduction in their salary, due to the need to provide direct, continuous and permanent care to their dependent children or minors for the duration of their stay in hospital and the on-going treatment of the illness.

This benefit is included under the protective action of the Social Security System since 01/01/2011 and does not apply to civil servants, for whom the provisions of art.49.e) of Royal Legislative Decree 5/2015, of 30 October, approving the Consolidated Text of the Law on the Basic Statute for Civil Servants shall apply.
