| Purpose: |
This is a financial benefit given to sea workers who, being willing and able to work, have either lost their jobs or have had their normal working day reduced, by at least a third, due to a labour force adjustment plan, as long as their salary has also been proportionately reduced. |
| Beneficiaries: |
All employees, both those remunerated with a salary and those remunerated through a share system, who make unemployment contributions. |
| Requirements: |
- Being registered with the Social Security and in active contributor status or equivalent.
- Currently in the legal situation of unemployment.
- Proving willingness to actively seek employment and accept suitable placements by signing a Commitment to Work.
- Having contributed to the Social Security for a minimum of 360 days, within the six years prior to the legal unemployment situation, or to the moment in which the obligation to contribute expired.
- Not having reached the legal retirement age, which would entitle the worker to claim a retirement pension.

| Amounts: |
- 70% of the calculation basis, during the first 180 days.
- 60% of the calculation basis, for the remaining duration of the benefit.
The amount of the benefit may not be, under any circumstances, higher or lower than the legally established amounts. |
| Duration of the Benefit: |
It is calculated based on the length of contributory employment during the previous 6 years.

| Periods: |
Beginning of the right to receive benefits:
- From the day following the legal unemployment situation, with an application deadline of 15 days.
- If it is applied for after the deadline, both the entitlement to the benefit and the benefit itself begin on the date of application. The benefits for the days between the date it should have been applied for and the actual application date will be lost.
- If the worker was not able to enjoy the annual paid holiday leave to which he or she was entitled, these should be requested in the 15 days that follow the end of the holiday leave.
- If there is a period that corresponds to procedural salary, the right to receive benefits will begin at the end of this period.
In the latter two cases, the aforementioned periods must appear on the Company Certificate.

- Unemployment Benefit Application on the standardised form.
- Document providing Legally Unemployed Status.
- Identification of the applicant and any children who they live with or are their dependents that are included in the application, by means of original and valid documentation.
- Identification of children not residing in Spain and certification of their employment status.
- Any other document that, in accordance with current regulations, the Employment Office deems necessary in order to grant unemployment benefits, in each particular case.
