What set-up do I need? - Linux Users
The items needed to guarantee that the RED System on the INTERNET works properly are described below.
SILCON Certificates
Communication between users and the TGSS will be done over the Internet.
For this to be possible, we need to guarantee the security of communications over a public network like the Internet. This is done by using the SILCON Certificate that the General Treasury of the Social Security provides as the certification body.
The SILCON Certificate can be requested from the digital certificate offices. Each certificate is valid for three years and must be renewed when its expires. The TGSS allows you to automatically renew your Certificate. To do this, the user must use it for on-line services at least once in the ninety days prior to its expiry date.
The SILCON Certificate is a digital security and confidentiality device that guarantees the integrity, identity and non-refusal of electronic communications.
To obtain a Certificate, citizens must prove their identity in person using their DNI at the digital certificate offices.
Hardware
-
Computer: The RED System requires the use of a personal computer. The computer must have the following minimum requirements:
- Pentium III Processor
- 256 MB of RAM .
- Approximately 60 MB of free space on the hard drive.
- VGA screen or above.
- Standard 101/102 keyboard.
-
Internet connection: If the Internet connection is over a modem, the minimum speed must be 28,800 bps (bits per second).
Software
-
Linux Operating System:
Tested distributions- SUSE 9.2
- FEDORA Core 5
- Other: No other distributions have been tested. This does not necessarily mean that the software will not operate correctly on other distributions.
- SUSE 9.2
-
Internet browser: Program for browsing the Internet. It has a graphical user interface for searching, finding, viewing and processing information over the Internet. A browser is needed to connect to the web since it uses windows where the information contained in pages from a Web server can be shown.
The browsers that are currently supported are:-
Firefox 1.5.x
-
Mozilla 1.7.x
So that all the services of the RED System operate correctly in the Firefox and Mozilla browsers, you need to configure your options:
Configuring Firefox and Mozilla.
-
-
Java Virtual Machine:
The Java Virtual Machine or JVM is a native program; that is, it is executable on a specific platform. It is able to interpret and execute instructions in a special binary code (Java bytecode), which is generated by the Java language compiler.
This software is needed to access the on-line services of the RED System.
The supported software versions are as follows:-
JRE SUN 1.5
-
-
Payroll and Personnel Management Program: These programs enable you to manage salary calculations, workforce costs, social security, IRPFholdings, worker affiliation etc .
This software must be adapted beforehand; in other words, be ready to receive TC2 and affiliation files in electronic document format and have a structure and content that have been predetermined by the TGSS.
You can use your own payroll program or one from a payroll provider. The majority of payroll providers have already made the necessary adaptations. If you do not have an adapted version, ask your payroll provider for one.
If you have your own payroll program, a Technical Instructions Manual is available to explain how to make the adaptations. This manual can be downloaded from the Documentation area.
Programs provided by the TGSS
-
JREDCOM: This application is provided free of charge by the TGSS to make the use of the RED System possible on PCs with the LINUX operating system. Its basic functions are to enable messages to be sent to the TGSS on affiliation, INSS and contributions, as well as validating and processing the data generated by the payroll program and sending/receiving messages.
JREDCOM was developed to operate on a PC platform. Therefore, if you store your employment information on a "host", "mini" or similar computer, it is recommended that you transfer the information to a PC with JREDCOM installed. -
Acrobat Reader 7.x or higher: This is a tool needed to view, search and print, in the same format as the original, files that are in a standard format (.PDF AND FDF), which is used worldwide for distributing electronic documents. To use Acrobat Reader with Mozilla and Firefox you should follow Adobe's instructions for installing the relevant "plug-ins".
This software is provided free of charge by ADOBE, although the TGSS will include it in the distributed software. This software is essential for viewing the help provided by the TGSS in its new Internet mode, as well as for printing out certain documents. -
Firefox: Software from the Mozilla Foundation that provides interactive services for users as it acts as a vehicle for exchanging messages between them and the TGSS and permits a direct connection to the TGSS's website for affiliation and other contribution services.
-
Mozilla: Software licensed by Mozilla and Netscape that provides interactive services for users as it acts as a vehicle for exchanging messages between them and the TGSS and permits a direct connection to the TGSS's website for affiliation and other contribution services.
