- National Health Management Institute (INGESA)
The National Institute of Health Care Management (INGESA) is a Managing Body of the Social Security, with its own legal personality and attached to the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality, though the General Secretariat for Health and Consumption, which is responsible for the management of Social Security health care benefits in the cities of Ceuta and Melilla. Powers in health care matters, which were previously assigned to the former National Health Institute, have since been transferred to all the Autonomous Communities. Under the Constitution, the State has exclusive authority over matters of foreign health, base and general co-ordination of the Health System, legislation about pharmaceutical products, and the basic legislature and economic scheme of the Social Security, without affecting the execution of services any the Autonomous Communities. - National Institute of the Social Security (INSS)
The National Institute of the Social Security (INSS) is a Managing Body with its own legal personality, linked to the Ministry of Employment and Social Security through the State Secretariat for Social Security. Its general jurisdiction includes managing and administering the financial benefits of the Social Security System, except those that are managed by the Institute for the Elderly and Social Services or competent services in the Autonomous Communities. Specifically, the National Social Security Institute has the following functions: To grant and control entitlement to contributory financial benefits awarded by the Social Security System, without prejudice to the responsibilities of the Public State Employment Service regarding unemployment benefits, or the Marine Social Institute regarding the Special Scheme for Sea Workers; to grant and control the entitlement to a financial allowance per dependent child, as well as to lump sums paid for the birth or adoption of a child into large families, single-parent families and families with disabled mothers, due multiple births or adoption, or due to the birth or adoption of a child; granting the entitlement to health care; to take care of international relations of an institutional nature and to negotiate and implement International Agreements on Social Security; to manage and operate the Registry of Public Social Benefits; to manage the financial and social benefits related to toxic shock syndrome, |Etc. - National Minimum Wage (SMI)
That which the Government states as such annually in accordance with the Workers Statute. It is applied for all activities without distinction of the workers' gender or age. Increased by a sixth, with the prorating of the due benefits that are greater than the monthly prorating, represents the minimum contribution base to the Social Security. - Need Benefits
A protection mechanism that includes financial benefits for old age, disability and health care aimed at Spanish citizens living abroad who, having moved abroad for a work-related, financial or any other reason, and are 65 years old or unable to work, are in a situation of need due to a lack of resources. - Non-prescriptiveness
The entitlement to be granted the retirement pension and death and survival benefits, with exceptions, which does not expire as a result of the passage of time, without prejudice to the fact that the effects of being granting the benefit arise as of three months prior to the date on which the application is submitted. - Non-professional care
Care provided to people in a situation of dependency at their home, by persons of the family or of their environment who are not related to a professional care service. - Non-retroactivity
Law principle according to which a law does not apply to events that occurred prior to its passing, unless there is an express order stating otherwise. New regulations may not be applied to situations that occurred during a the previous regulation that is being repealed, and will only be effective upon the date of its enforcement. The Constitution guarantees the principle of non-retroactivity to those sanctioning orders that are unfavourable or restrictive to individual rights. - Non-work-related injury
Injury or disease derived from an accident whenever it is not the consequence of the job performed. It is subject to the same protective actions as for common illness, without requiring a previous contributory period, except when applying for full permanent disability or severe invalidity or for death and survivors pensions, from non-registered situations. - Notification
Act by which the interested party must be notified of the decisions and administrative acts which affect his rights and interests, in the conditions and terms established by the law.
